here's a shot of the calligraphy/design area of my studio. i finally got it set up in a way that i am happy with... i even know where almost everything is!! shocking!
i'm soo lucky to have a guy who can do just about everything!!!! thanks, babe!
what amazes me is that i have this big table and all the other work tables and i STiLL have room to move around in there!!!
my table is now in the stages of being finished. it needs several coats of varnish before i can work on it... it's practically killing me to not be able to spread my paint and paper on there!!! oh well, there's still lots of work that needs to be done around the studio... not to mention the designing work that needs to be done
my good buddy made this 4'x8' table for me and delivered a few days ago. because of its size, it had to be delivered in two parts: table top and legs separate, and then asembled here
i thought maybe you might get tired of all the studio shots, so i took this picture from just outside the backdoor of my studio. but don't worry.... i'll be posting more studio shots soon ; )
i took this photo while standing in the far right corner (shown below). after the shelves were removed, my favorite place to hang out was in that corner, marveling at all the space i now have!
and here is the far left corner.. there's the door that goes to my backyard
i have a whole new wall now that Jim has finished tearing down the shelving. this shot shows the far right corner of the studio. my plan is to use this area for my easels and painting
this is a three part story ; ) continued in the entries below, so please keep reading...
last night, i caught my husband, Jim, finishing the removal of the last walls of shelves in the studio. he basically said "Oh No" when he saw me approach with my camera! hey, jim.... maybe next time i'll come in with my recorder ; )
it's amazing that's there's even MoRe room in there now... a whole 'nother wall!!!
Soo... jim is showing me how he does it ; ) -- there are more shelves in yet another corner of the studio which he has yet to tackle. that space is also quite large and will be a perfect shop.
watch out, babe.. yer about to hammer that cord :)
at his finest! he has conquered the shelving in my studio!! what a feat! our buddy was here this afternoon and was well impressed, so am i. thanks, babe!
well, i think i'm making a bit of progress, but i'm note sure it's easy to tell from this photo and the two below. we continue to knock down the shelves in preparation of cabinets. i'm messing around with how to position my desks.. goodness only knows where or how they will end up. one thing i am learning is that--i can't find anything!!! my studio has at least quadrupled in size.. probably more like ten times the size of my last one!
this photo was taken from where the flat files and big white cabinet are in the photo below. i surely have my work cut out for me.. first to unpack everything!! in a few months, we are going to knock out part of this wall for sliding glass doors and larger windows. once the lighting is finished, sheet rock will finish the ceiling and we are also going put some kind of flooring in... just haven't decided exactly what. for now, i'll throw some large carpets in there and i have some rubber mats for standing on until then.
this shot is taken from the opposite side of the studio office... we figure this space is a good 900 square feet
walk out of the office and turn left to enter the studio. the boxes and furniture just arrived yesterday... the unpacking begins!
Finally, I have a dedicated office!!!! I LoVe it, even with all those cords showing ; ) My computer area was in the bedroom in the last place, and in the studio in the place before that. It's really nice having it all separated. Now my husband can sleep when I need to work on my computer late at night!
I promised myself I would be a better blogger once I moved. We've recently moved from Southern California to NW Arkansas. This is a picture of the studio space I had in CA.. most everything in boxes, getting closer to being loaded on a big truck
